Class Descriptions

Beginners Yoga with Self Care

All levels of yoga practitioners, including beginners, will enjoy this class for its detailed instruction through the poses.  Teachings of yoga and wellness -enhancing techniques will be offered for use on and off the mat.

Mindful Movement

Begin your practice with a short meditation and some breathwork and then enjoy a slow, mindful, practice that involves some stretching, strengthening, balance, and a couple yin or restorative poses. This is a wonderful well-rounded practice that is appropriate for beginners and all levels.

Yoga Remedies

We all, at one time or another, have a difficulty to work through or integrate into our lives; whether it be anxiety, healing from an injury, or living with a diagnosis. This class will offer more in-depth guidance with various holistic techniques, poses, and breathwork to explore difficulties we might face in our bodies from an energetic, mental/emotional, and physical level. Each class will vary. If you have anything specific you would like to explore, feel free to share it with the instructor so it can be worked on in a future class. Even if all you can do is come and sit or lie down, please join. You are supported! Appropriate for All Levels including beginners.

Registered yoga teachers are eligible for 1 CE hour in the Techniques, Training, and Practice (TTP) category through Yoga Alliance® for this class when Veda Spidle (or any substitute teacher that is registered with YA and is a YACEP®) is teaching.  To receive CE credit, attendance for the length of the class is required and a $4 processing fee will be added to the cost of the class. Surya Yoga Members and Teachers are also welcome to take this class for CE credit…for a total cost of $8.

Gentle Yoga

Honor your body’s need to move slowly in this class that focuses on breathing, gentle stretching, standing poses, and relaxation.  This class offers you a chance to step away from the hustle and chaos of life and into a place where you can nurture your body with gentle movement.  Appropriate for All Levels including Beginners.

Move With Ease: Adaptive Yoga for Stability, Mobility, Strength and Balance

This class is designed for adults with all ability levels.

This class focuses on stability and mobility. Perfect for those who have suffered an injury, have age-related concerns, or those who have been inactive for awhile and are ready to get moving.

Expect to build hip and core strength and confidence in standing balances. Feel stable and secure on stairs, navigating curbs and uneven terrain. Develop mobility for checking your blind spot while driving, reaching things in high cabinets, and easily changing clothes. Each class will include standing, sitting in a chair, and have the option to practice getting up and down off the floor safely and effectively. No yoga experience necessary!

Restorative Yoga with Sound Healing

Enjoy gentle, supported postures and therapeutic breathing techniques for rejuvenation and deep relaxation. Experience the healing vibrations of the Gong, Crystal Sound Bowls, Steel Drums, Ocean Drum, and Chimes while savoring the restorative benefits of the postures.

Yin–Deep Stretch

A very slow paced style of yoga with postures mostly done on the floor and held for longer periods of time.  Yin yoga applies gentle tension to the connective tissue, such as the tendons, fascia, and ligaments with the aim of increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility and strength.  The poses also improve blood circulation to boost organ health, immunity, mental and emotional balance, and well-being. Appropriate for All Levels, including Beginners.

Yoga for Stress and Anxiety With Essential Oils

This class is designed to soothe your nervous system from the negative effects of stress and anxiety. You will learn breathing techniques to use when challenges arise in your daily life. You will be offered yoga poses that help to relieve aches and pains often associated with stress and anxiety. Each class will conclude with an extended guided relaxation to help your mind find a deep sense of inner calm.

Flow classes link breath with movement in sequences of postures that help to build strength, increase heart rate, and improve flexibility.  We offer a variety of Flow options:

Candlelight Slow Flow with Meditation

This class is centered around calming the nervous system. Enjoy a slower paced flow and deep breathing in a candlelit room with guided meditation.  Warm, mellow vibes. Leave feeling rejuvenated and relaxed. Appropriate for all levels.

Vinyasa Yoga Flow

Energetic class that flows from one pose to the next. Focus on breath, strength, stability, and flexibility. This class will help to create space in the body and the mind.  Prior Yoga Experience Suggested.

Yoga Foundations Flow

Come enjoy this class and learn the foundations of yoga to build strength and stability in your physical and energetic body.  This class offers an opportunity to focus on the alignment of individual poses while bringing direct awareness to the Breath…as the Breath is the true foundations of the Yoga Practice.

Good Morning Flow

Wake up with dynamic sequences, positive vibes, inspired music, and focus on linking breath to movement. Appropriate for All Levels.

Inspired Flow

This all levels Vinyasa Flow offers affirmations and inspirations throughout class–making it a perfect place to set intentions and to get clear on what you want, need, and deserve in this Life. This class provides the integration of body, mind, and spirit–giving yogis the opportunity to Flow with Purpose.

Power Yoga Flow

Faster paced, athletic class designed to build stamina and strength. And Themed around finding Power in our spiritual lives. More advanced postures offered.  Prior Yoga experience encouraged.

Sundays For the Soul

Wake up and spend Sunday mornings with your Soul. The class is a blend of gentle movement, yin, and restorative…and the purpose is to give yourself time to reconnect within. Making space for the deeper wisdom that lives within us (which can only be heard with intentional sacred listening) to come forth.  Take time in your day to give your Soul a safe centered place to be speak and be heard.

We also use this time together on Sundays as a way to shine light back into the community. We ask that in addition to the cost of yoga, you bring something to donate to those in need in our community. What we collect changes. For September, we are partnering with New Vision Center on behalf of Arizona Helping Hands and collecting brand new pajamas for foster children ages infant-18. We are also accepting monetary donations towards the purchase of pajamas.
